Day 6 Eat and be Merry

          Everyone enjoys christmas cookies.We hope you enjoy some of our favorite recipies as well.

          Candy Cane Cookies

          bake for 9 min. at 375*

          1 cup soft shortening (1/2 cup butter, 1/2 c. shortening)

          1 cup confect. sugar

          1 egg

          1-1/2 tsp. vanilla

          2-1/2 cups flour

          1 tsp. salt

          Divide in two parts, and add red food coloring to one half. Roll on waxed paper & sprinkle with regular sugar right after baking.


          Suger Cookies

          bake for 10 min. at 425*

          2-1/4 cups. flour

          1/2 tsp. soda 1 tsp. baking powder

          1 tsp. salt

          Cream 1/2 cup shortening

          1 cup sugar

          2 eggs

          1 tsp vanilla

          1 tbl. milk

          chill 2 hours

          double batch

          4 1/2 cups flour

          1 tsp. soda 2 tsp. baking powder

          1 tsp salt

          cream 1 cup shortening

          2 cups sugar


          Cherry Winks

          Bake for 10 min. 375* 

          Mix: 2 1/4 cups flour

          1 tsp. baking powder

          1/2 tsp. soda

          1/2 tsp. salt

          Combine: 3/4 cup shortening, 1 cup sugar - cream well Blend in 2 eggs and add 2 tbl. milk & 1 tsp. vanilla. Blend in dry ingredients, mix well and add 1/3 cup chopped marschino cherries. Shape into balls using a level tablespoon of dough for each cookie. Crush 2-1/2 cups cornflakes. Roll each ball of dough in cornflakes. Place on greased baking sheet. Top each cookie with cherry

          Mollasses Cookies

          Bake for 10 min. 375*

          3/4 cup shortening

          1 cup brown sugar

          1 egg

          4 tbl. molasses

          1/4 tsp. salt

          2-1/4 Cups flour

          2 tsp. baking soda

          1/2 tsp. ground cloves

          1/2 tsp. ginger

          1 tsp cinnamon

          Cream shortening.Add sugar, egg & beat until smooth, then add molasses, Put everything else into molasses mixture & place in refrigerator. 1 hour. Shape into balls and dip the top side in sugar. Place sugar side up on greased cookie sheet 3" apart. Put two fingers into water and place on top of ball gently. Bake.

          Double Batch

          1-1/2 cup shortening

          2 cups brown sugar

          2 eggs

          8 tbl. molasses

          1/2 tsp. salt

          4-1/2 cups flour

          4 tsp. baking soda

          1 tsp. gr. cloves

          1 tsp ginger

          2 tsp cinnamon


          SPRITZ COOKIES

          Bake for 8 min at 425*

          3/4 cup butter

          1/2 cup sugar

          1 beaten egg yolk

          1 tsp. vanilla

          2 cups flour

          1/4 tsp. salt

          Double batch

          1 1/2 cup butter

          1 cup sugar

          2 egg yolks

          2 tsp. vanilla

          4 cups flour

          1/2 tsp. salt

          Cream butter & sugar, beat in egg yolk, add vanilla,salt and flour.
